Frequently Asked Questions

Who? What? Why? When? Where? Wine? If you can’t find your question below feel free to contact us, and we’ll be happy to help.

Who is Manchester Wine Tours for?

It’s for anyone who likes wine. Please don’t think it’s not for you if you don’t know much about wine, you will learn about it on the tour. If you know loads about wine you should enjoy it too. It’s not for kids though, you must be 18+ to ride.

How much wine do we get?

You will get six small glasses of really good wine equating to at least 2/3 of a bottle per person. In normal wine tastings, portions are all 50-75ml but we have gone larger for some of our pours on our tour based on feedback from potential customers.

What if I want more wine?

There will always be at least one shop on the tour where you can buy wine to take home. You are also welcome to stay at the last venue we visit and buy more wine there.

Is this like a food tour?

This is not a food tour, there are already some great ones in Manchester. However, we don’t like to drink wine on its own so there will be a snack at every venue. Some will be smaller like olives or nuts or crisps, and some will be a little more substantial but the idea is to try some lovely wine with nibbles, not to eat a full meal. Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements.

Can I bring my dog?

Only if it’s a registered guide dog as some venues are not dog friendly.

I run a wine bar/shop/restaurant, can I join in?

I have hand selected my favourite places for wine in Manchester but my list is still growing. If you run a city centre wine bar, shop or restaurant and want us to to call at your place, drop me an email and if I think you’d be a good fit, I’ll see if we can squeeze you in. Out of towners I can’t accomodate yet – maybe one day!

What kind of places will we stop at?

We have a relationship with more than 20 fantastic places for wine in Manchester. We will stop at four or five of these and taste six wines in total. Venues and wines will vary on different tours so you can come back again and have a different experience. We are experts in the Manchester hospitality scene and you will be visiting the very best places. Some more casual, some a bit fancy. But no need to dress up. Wear comfortable walking shoes as this is a walking tour.

How long is the tour and how much walking will there be?

The tour lasts around 3 hours. We will walk between venues and aim for walks no longer than 15 minutes. We will walk slowly enough to make sure the slowest walkers don’t get left behind.

Can I get a refund if I can’t come?

We pre-book all of our venues, wines and snacks and our margins are tight to give you the best possible deal on wine. Because of this, we cannot offer refunds. If you can’t make it and let us know more than 48 hours before the tour is on, we’ll aim to book you onto a different tour subject to availability. Feel free to send a friend in your place.

Do you do vouchers?

Yes. A Manchester Wine Tour is a stupendous gift and one I would quite like to receive myself. Just click on the booking button above and choose ‘gift voucher’. Then bask in the glory of being the best friend/offspring/partner ever.

What about private tours?

If you want to book Kel for a private tour or tasting, get in touch.

When will I find out where my tour goes to?

I’ll send you an email with all the details of meeting point, what to expect, wines, snacks and and venues a few days before the tour. You will be able to avoid spoilers by not opening the attachment if you prefer it to be a surprise.
